MAINSITE

The new photographs by J. Michelle Martin Coyne include work that captures her personal experience behind the scenes of the Flaming Lips world tour in 2007.
Ms. Martin conveys a sense of restlesness in her current work. It could be said that this group of photos are emotionally charged with a sense of containment of the chaos that can be experienced in the rock and roll environment, with particular interest to the explosive enthusiasm that surrounds the circus that is a Flaming Lips concert. Ms. Martin sees photography as a way to capture a moment, and through a photo, the moment can be studied and clearly remembered, becoming a personal memento of the experience depicted.
The new oil paintings by Jeff Dodd depict his love for the Oklahoma landscape. Mr. Dodd is a masterful oil painter and enjoys the challenge of maintaining a hyper realistic depiction of his subject matter.
This current work depicts clouds and grassland prairies, considered typical Oklahoma scenery, but with an intense beauty and richness that only Jeff Dodd can bring to a painting.
Please join us in welcoming these two wonderful artists to our gallery at an Opening Reception Friday February 1, 2008, 7-9 pm, at MAINSITE Contemporary Art in Norman Oklahoma. For more information, contact 405-292-8095 or email us at mainsite@mainsite-art.com.
