Don Holladay

MAINSITE Contemporary Art presents a new exhibition of work by artists
Linda Warren and Don Holladay, February 12th through March 27th, 2010.
Opening Reception: Friday, February 12th- 6-10pm,
Midway Reception: Friday, March 12th- 6-10pm.
Both events in conjunction with the Norman Arts Council's 2nd Friday Circuit of Art.
Linda Warren 'Bakery'
Linda Warren's new work consists of her favorite
visual images of celebrations and family and faith in life.
The first of her imagery is the cake, or what she describes as the consummate
image of celebration and happiness. Warren has created many oil paintings of cakes
on fancy cake stands, with a straight forward vantage point, cake as still life.
Warren has been baking cakes for her family for the past 40 years and recounts her
family's favorite cake as the James Beard yellow cake, which she especially
enjoys creating with her new granddaughters.
"I love watching my granddaughter, Sarah, look at cakes with delight, and the
expectations she has associated with them. I feel they represent a tribute to life.
I hope she and her newborn sister will always be asking, "Let's bake a cake."
Warren will also be exhibiting clay dolls that she calls her 'customers'.
The dolls are influenced by her husbands grandmother and her collection of dolls.
Warren considers them a depiction of her family and her faith in the celebration of life.
Linda Warren has an extensive exhibition resume, locally, nationally and internationally,
including the National Gallery of Modern Art in Lisbon Portugal and the Museum of Fine
Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Linda Warren's work is included in many public collections
including the Kirkpatrick Bank, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the Cadillac Fairview Corporation,
Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Hunt Lowry Productions, Los Angeles, California.
Warren has won many awards with her work and was a Adolph and Esther Gottlieb
Foundation Fellow. She currently live with her husband of 37 years, a professional drummer,
and teaches hundreds of children the power of art as expression at Westminster Day School.
Don Holladay
Don Holladay's new work consists of oil paintings and oil based mono-prints
using figurative and non-objective abstract imagery. Holladay's work has a personal connection
to events in his life, such as travel or remembered places and times. "I prefer painting directly
onto a paper surface that has already been altered. After many years of using an etching press,
I often begin a painting by first running an inked textured surface through the press.
These background traces give dimension and allow me to escape staring at a white surface."
Holladay began watercolor painting in 1972 and then beginning in the 1990's concentrated on
printmaking as a medium. Holladay has exhibited in numerous local and national venues.
His work is heavily collected by private corporations, individuals and businesses,
particularly the legal community.

Phase V, Live Cinema Remix by Brian Hearn
MAINSITE Contemporary Art is pleased to announce the upcoming event:
August 14th, 2009, in conjunction with the Norman Arts Council 2nd Friday Circuit of Art,
MAINSITE will host a live cinema performance event: Phase V, a cinema re-edit installation
by Brian Hearn, with live musical soundtrack by Brad Fielder.
In 1973, legendary graphic designer Saul Bass directed his first and only feature length film.
Phase IV was a science-fiction film about a cosmic event that transforms the ant populations
of earth, an estimated 20% of the planets biomass, into super-intelligent species capable of
communication with humans.
Two scientists set up a research post in a remote location to engage the ant colony with
unexpected results that beg the question, which species is superior?
Phase V is a conceptual re-edit of the original film by Brian Hearn, emphasizing the conflict
between man and ant. Phase V will be projected in the gallery space with a live musical
soundtrack by Brad Fielder.
Screenings will be at 7:30pm and 9:00pm with an approximate running time of one hour.
